With a win tonight in Logan, the BYU Cougars have faced and swept all three of their in-state opponents for the 2011 season, making them pretty much the best volleyball team in Utah, but you already knew that.
The Cougars swept the Aggies in three tonight, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 giving themselves a nine-match win streak.
Nicole lead the Cougars tonight with 13 kills no errors, and a .650 hitting percentage, .250 better than any other hitter from either team. Nicole also brought her blocking game contributing 5 of the Cougars' 22 blocks. In a match that seemed way to close, Nicole pushed the ladies through the first set with .778 hitting, and then continued to help them take over the next two sets.
Despite a negative first set hitting, WCC POW, Jen also came through for the Cougars and put up 13 kills on the night. Jen continues to contribute on defense with 7 blocks and 9 digs, looking for another double-double.
Overall a tough BYU defense proved too much for USU. Star defender Kendalyn lead the Cougars and recorded a new season high of 23 digs per match addingt 3 assists. Throughout the match the Cougars dominated on defense putting up 22 blocks to USU's 15, and 71 digs to USU's 60.
As the Cougars continue their road trip to California to round off the pre-season I hope they work out their kinks as they prepare to face St. Mary's when they get back.
Go Cougars!
P.S. Here is the Cougar Report, and the Official Stats.
