In the opening match for Utah's Invitational the BYU Cougars swept the UC Riverside Highlanders under an ugly rug.
With the win the Cougars improve their record to 7-2, are tied with Eastern Michigan for first in the tournament (one win each).

In a three match sweep the Cougars came on top, 25-20, 25-14, 25-16, in one of the most creative matches I've ever seen.
Jen and Christie lead the Cougars in kills with 8 each, outkilled by Shelby Leduff of Riverside with 11. While many players had great kills throughout the match, especially from Nicole, one of my favorite kills of the night came on the last play of the match when Jen went up for a hit came down and got the dig that sent the ball up and over the block for the match point. A very epic moment in the career of Jen. ;)
The killing duo of Christie and Jen continued in serving with Christie knocking down two aces and Jen one herself. Nicole also contributed an ace toward the win. More importantly Nicole showed up with her blocking game, gathering 6 blocks assissted by Kat and Jen with 4 each.
To round off her night Jen continued to make a splash in all categories with a grand total of 12 digs. I am convinced that Jen used the last play mentioned above for that last dig to top Kendalyn in the category, and top somewhere in the match, or maybe she was just thinking, "get it up"?
Any ways here's to a great Saturday where the volleyball team, and maybe the football team, get wins.
Go Cougars!
P.S. Eastern Michigan barely ecked a win in five from Utah friday night.
