Playing at the Marriot Center the Cougars crushed the Waves in a 80 - 56 victory.
The Cougars and Waves battled in the first half. Haley and Lexi lead the way with both points and assists. Lexi worked hard and helped send the Cougars out winning, contributing 9 points in that last couple minutes of the half. The Cougars ended the half leading 37-27. The Cougars out-shot the Waves .517 to .286 from the field, and .400 to .167 from beyond the arch. The starters led the way for much of the half with the bench only contributing 6 points that half.
After a break that featured several BYU athletics teams the Cougars came back with a powerhouse start. They went on a 13-2 run, find Jen in the middle to bury 9 points in the opening minutes. (For those of you who watched on BYUtv you will note that they decided to interview Jen's mother Tresa (TREE-sa) in the middle of that scoring run...if she seemed distracted now you know why.) Jen also had an epic 5 blocks to propel her into 5th all time at BYU (83). (Despite her denial Tresa leads this category with 494).
For the game Lexi led the Cougars with 15 points, followed by Jen, Steph, and Haley with 13, 12, and 11 points each. A total of .541 shooting percentage from the field and .350 from the arc, for the team. BYU's bench stepped it up to contribute 24 points. . Part of that was the perfect 3-3 shooting from Steph.
For the game Haley contributed a career-high 14 assists finding teammates all around the court. Also making her 7th all time for career assists. Riley led with 8 rebounds followed by Lexi with career high 7 rebounds.
This win also gives coach Jeff Judkins his 220th career win, making him the winningest coach in BYU history.
