BYU at LMU

At the Gersten Pavillion on the campus of Loyola Marymount University, the Cougars showed the Lions how to play ball soundly defeating them 72-48.

In the first half the Cougars pulled out an effective defense keeping the Lions scoreless for nearly 8 minutes and keeping them 7 for 32 in field goals and 1 for 3 from 3. Meanwhile the Cougars went 13 of 28 and 3 of 7 from the 3. Riley started the game hot dishing out 6 points before the Lions knew what happened, and then maintained an incredible pace recording 17 points before the half. All around the Cougars played well to leave the floor 31-20.

The second half seemed to be Riley Time as well, until fouls had her take a seat. But the BYU bench came up big to contribute 14 points and stop the Lion offense. In the second half the Cougars improved their shooting to 15 of 27 inside and perfect from the Charity Stripe, while holding the LMU to .340. The ladies stretched their lead to 24 with less than a minute left in the second half, and then ended with the 72- 48 victory.

Overall Riley led all scorers with 22 points, followed by Lexi with 16, while Dani and Jen contributed 8 each Riley also led all with 10 rebounds, with Jen adding 8 herself, and the Cougars out-rebounding the Lions 38 to 28. Haley once again proved her position as no.1 in the WCC in assists by leading all with 9 followed by Kim with 6. Jen led all with 4 of BYU's 5 blocks, twice as many as LMU's total. Haley and Dani led all with 3 steals a piece.

This victory improves the Cougars to 17-3 on the season and 6-1 in conference.
