The Cougars traveled to the Jenny Craig Pavillion at San Diego University and handed the Toreros their first West Coast Conference loss, 62-53.
The Cougars started out slow, but early points from Lexi and Dani helped push the Cougars forward. The half stayed relatively close, with both teams shooting similar. The Cougars shot 12 of 26 and 2 of 6 from beyond the arc, while the Toreros had 11 of 32 and 2 for 9 from three. After several runs by each team, the players headed into the locker room with 30-29 on the board for BYU.
Not satisfied with that performance the Cougars came out from the half to go on a 6 minute 12-0 run, to push the lead to 13. Lexi, Dani, and Kim continued to lead the Cougars putting up a total of 16, 10, and 10 points each in the game. They were followed by Haley, Kristen, and Jen with 9, 9, and 8 points, to round off the scoring for the Cougars. Hard work from the Cougars led to 11 for 24 and 3 for 10 shooting from the Cougars , in the second half. Compare that to 8-32 from USD, led by Amy Kame with 19 points.
Haley once again led all with 5 assists, just one less than the total number of assists for the Toreros. Riley led all in rebounding with 13 followed distantly by Dani with 7. She also led all in blocks with 3, followed closely by Jen, Lexi, and Dani with 2 each. Haley, Riley, Jen and Steph V. each contirubted 2 steals, to round off the stats.
