Throughout this season the Air Force Falcons have, for the first time in three years, won a couple of conference upsets. But the Lady Cougars were not about to let that happen to them. The 78-51 win for BYU says that they didn't. BYU's story is here, followed by the official stats, and then a short video by coach Jeff Judkins. But here it really is.
In this game the bigs came out and played hard against Air Force, with the Falcons just letting them. Coriann Fraughton came out with 12 points and 11 rebounds, Jennifer Hamson tied her career high with 16 points and added 7 rebounds, and Kristen Riley had 16 points with 8 rebounds.
Through out the first half the cougars played an especially strong game holding the Falcons to just 20% shooting while making over half of our shots. By the end of the first half the score was 41-13. Air Force tried to come back in the second, but BYU's bigs and bench held them off to a final score of 78-51.
The support coming from the third largest crowd our girls have seen in conference play, also helped to push our girls forward.
This win pushes BYU to 9-1 in conference, and ensures their hold on first place in conference. Next Saturday, the 19th, BYU faces their only conference loss, TCU, in the Marriott. Come support the Cougars, and wear your pink!
