Tuesday, March 1st our Cougars took their winning game to New Mexico, showing the Lobos how to win in 65-49 victory. That night we played one of our best outside games ending with 6 players recording threes. But the defense also never let up.
The Lobos came out with their game faces on, but key threes from several players put the Cougars in the lead at 13 points. Despite the Lobos' best efforts the Cougar offense never let up. Coriann recorded an amazing 4 for 4 record from beyond the three. Stephanie Vermunt and Kristen also recorded perfection, with 2 for 2 a piece. Mindy, Jazmine, and Haley each contributed to the three game with 1 a piece. Coriann lead all in scoring capturing a career high of 22 points.
Cougar defense also helped the game. We held the Lobos to 30% field goal shooting, and only 3 three point scores. Coriann again lead all in rebounding ending with nine rebounds. Jen lead all in blocked shots with 2.
This on the road win clinches the regular season Mountain West conference title for the Cougars. The Cougars look to go out with a bang on Saturday against the Cowgirls in Laramie.
